¡Ché! Revolution and Commerce

Para los interesados en el Ché y la fotografía, el International Center of Photography (Centro Internacional de Fotografia) estará presentando del 9 de diciembre al 26 de febrero una exhibición de fotografías del Ché, incluyendo la foto tomada por Alberto Korda, la cual es considerada como la imagen más reproducida del mundo. La exhibición se titula: "¡Che! Revolution and Commerce" (¡Ché! Revolución y Comercio) Aunque es irónico unir las palabras revolución y comercio al referirse a Guevara, no se puede dudar que lamentablemente la imagen del Ché se ha convertido en un símbolo comercial apesar de ir en contra de lo que él representaba y de su ideología. (Aqui se encuentra su imagen pordoquier y es muy popular entre los jóvenes).

Según el anuncio de la ICP, esta exposición de fotografías, revistas y afiches examina el poder de las imágenes y su circulación: "Alberto Korda's 1960 photograph of Che Guevara is claimed to be the most widely reproduced image in the history of photography. The portrait has shed many of the details of its subject and maker in its endless reproduction on posters, T-shirts, and kitsch objects, but has remained remarkably durable as a symbol of revolution and youthful rebellion. Through a presentation of contact sheets, original magazines, posters, photographs, and more, this exhibition examines the power of the image and the history of its circulation."
